As we begin this new year, we will be going on hiatus here at Makings of Motherhood. Both of us feel the need to pause and breathe. Both of us feel called to collect and redirect our energies right now.
Motherhood is such an evolving journey.

Unsure of what lies ahead, we know only that we need for this space to rest. Things are changing with our children…they are evolving seemingly faster than ever. Things are changing within ourselves…we – as mothers, women, artists – are evolving. Over the years of tending this space, our friendship has grown strong; we are blessed to see it continue. It is in the strength of this friendship that we are keeping our promise (to ourselves and to one another) to honor the shifting rhythms and needs of our lives.
We invite you to continue sharing your images with the hashtag #makingsofmotherhood on Instagram. While we won’t be offering monthly prompts during this hiatus, our community pool will remain open and will be a safe place for your stories. It is our hope that you will continue to share there and that, in the sharing, you will find strength. When we share our stories, we are less alone.
There’s a feeling sometimes in motherhood that you’re alone in what you’re going through, and none of us are alone.

Thank you, dear mamas, for being here with us. Thank you for sharing your journeys with us. Thank you for the ongoing witness you have offered us, as we sought to offer witness to you. Thank you for acknowledging our need for a quieting. Thank you, above all, for understanding. We are forever grateful to be going through the same thing as you.
